Arsenal are believed to have stepped up their efforts to sign Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, according to The Daily Mail.

The France international has been in Arsene Wenger’s cross-hairs for quite some time and a £17 million move is reportedly on the cards.

The north London side are thought to be in negotiations with the Ligue 1 team over the transfer fee, with Wenger keen to get the deal sorted out sooner rather than later.

Backup options for the Gunners include Athletic Bilbao and Spain battler Javi Martinez and Anderlecht’s Lucas Biglia, should a deal for M’Vila fall through.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also thought to be ready to make a move for Blackburn’s Junior Hoilett.

The Canadian attacker is out of contract at the end of the season, and with Rovers being relegated, Wenger is keen to beat the likes of Bayern Munich and Marseille to the forward’s signature.
