Ryan Babel has declared himself happy at Liverpool and no longer seeking a move away from Anfield.

The Netherlands international was heavily linked with a move to Birmingham City earlier in the summer after struggling to make an impact during three years with the Reds.

The 23-year-old forward had become disillusioned with a lack of starting opportunities under former manager Rafael Benitez following his £11million arrival from Ajax in July 2007.

However, following fresh reports suggesting a move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg could be on the cards, Babel insists he is now happy to stay at Anfield.

"I have been through a difficult time at Liverpool but I look upon this year as a new chapter," he said.

"I am trying to be positive and look forward. I have two years left on my contract and I love Liverpool. I am settled here.

"If I had the feeling I had done everything I can here then, maybe, I would look at something else.

"But I don't have that feeling at all. I feel I can be important for Liverpool."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
